The Producer\/Rapper Poly has a smooth demeanor that\u2019s chill and laid back or as he\u2019s explains just \u201cBeing Creez\u201d.<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n Did you make that word \u201cCreez\u201d up?<\/strong><\/font> <\/p>\n No, I didn\u2019t actually, my friends in Long Beach made it up. It was about 6-7 years ago where one morning my friend just came up to me and was like \u201cCreez! Creez! Creez!\u201d and I was like WHAT? What is that? So he explained it to me and it just stayed with me. Even my mom says Creez.<\/em><\/p>\n How would one stay Creez?<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n You stay Creez by staying in your Creez. Everybody has his or her own Creez and that\u2019s how you stay Creez. You gotta stay you and be you to the fullest. That\u2019s what Creez is, \u201cBe you all the way to the max.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n As an Inglewood native, I went bananas when I first heard \u201cChoose Up\u201d at Dom\u2019s listening party. You guys obviously work well together, what\u2019s your relationship like?<\/strong><\/font> <\/p>\n We met each other already as musicians so our friendship branched off from there. All the songs that we do like \u201cChoose Up\u201d is just another night of us like let\u2019s get together and make something, then we make it and everybody\u2019s like, \u201cyeeeeeeeee!!!\u201d so we keep it going. <\/em><\/p>\n What do you think of the West Coast music right now? As far as how it used to be versus how it is right now. Growing up listening to g-funk and rap I know what original west coast music sounds like. Most mainstream \u201cWest Coast Artist\u201d don\u2019t even have a West Coast sound anymore. When I listen to your records it has that original West Coast feel. If I\u2019m in Japan and they play your shit I know its LA, all day!<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n I feel like it\u2019s like that in all music right now. Now I feel like everybody isn\u2019t sounding where their from and that\u2019s what you gotta do to get back on. If you\u2019re from Chicago, sound like you from Chicago. If you\u2019re from LA, sound like you\u2019re from LA. In the 90s, that\u2019s what everybody sounded like. It was their steelo. You don\u2019t sound like me cuz I rap like this. Now it\u2019s like who can be the best Wayne or who can be the best Drake and I\u2019m not trying to be neither one of them.<\/em> <\/p>\n If you could work with one artist, dead or alive. Who would it be?<\/strong><\/font> <\/p>\n Probably Andre 3000. I think with people like that it aint like oh lets make a hip-hop track or oh lets try to make a single. With People like that there\u2019s no boundaries. Of all time? Maaaaan I would say \u201cThe Love Below\u201d by Andre 3000. Stevie Wonder but I can\u2019t pick just one so I\u2019ll say \u201cSongs In a Key of Life\u201d and the third one I would say mine \u201cSomething to Creez to\u201d and my new release \u201cReal Deal P\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n Speaking of Stevie Wonder, I read somewhere that he gave you your first keyboard growing up. You still talk to Stevie?<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n I haven\u2019t spoke to him in about a year or so. Every once in a while he comes into different parts of my life just to say hey. Probably soon. People always ask me why we didn\u2019t do track with all LA artist right after, but I felt like everyone needed to grow as artist and into who they wanted to be.<\/em><\/p>\n Describe yourself in 3 words.<\/strong><\/font> <\/p>\n Me? I don\u2019t know, Creez.
