{"id":43840,"date":"2019-07-18T00:06:59","date_gmt":"2019-07-18T07:06:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/illsocietymag.com\/?p=43840"},"modified":"2019-07-18T00:06:59","modified_gmt":"2019-07-18T07:06:59","slug":"hungarian-jazz-collective-abase-releases-stunning-debut-ep-invocation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/illsocietymag.com\/?p=43840","title":{"rendered":"Hungarian Jazz Collective Abase Releases Stunning Debut EP &#8220;Invocation&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/illsocietymag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/a2099188005_10.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/illsocietymag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/a2099188005_10.jpg\" alt=\"a2099188005_10\" width=\"550\" height=\"550\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-43841\" srcset=\"http:\/\/illsocietymag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/a2099188005_10.jpg 1200w, http:\/\/illsocietymag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/a2099188005_10-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/illsocietymag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/a2099188005_10-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/illsocietymag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/a2099188005_10-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/illsocietymag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/a2099188005_10-144x144.jpg 144w, http:\/\/illsocietymag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/a2099188005_10-900x900.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Budapest-born and Berlin-based producer, pianist and multi-instrumentalist <strong>\u00c0b\u00e1se<\/strong> releases debut EP <em>Invocation<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Created in a live recording session set up with \u00c0b\u00e1se\u2019s home-band in Budapest, <em>Invocation<\/em> is seven pieces of instrumental artistry, each channeling a musical journey of its own, while inviting the listener on a personal, emotional journey with guests which he encountered during his travels in Brazil, Ghana, and Europe. <\/p>\n<p>The EP was recorded mostly with two drummers, two bass players playing simultaneously, a flutist, a percussionist and \u00c0b\u00e1se playing Rhodes and synths, &#8220;Invocation&#8221; hosts a wealth of guest talents as well from diverse backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>From title track &#8220;Invocation&#8221; featuring Brazilian percussionist <strong>Roque Miguel<\/strong>, to the lengthy jazz-infused &#8220;Align&#8221; which boasts the vocal stylings of Nigerian vocalist <strong>Wayne Snow<\/strong>, third track &#8220;Skeme Goes All City&#8221; which reflects \u00c0b\u00e1se\u2019s hip-hop roots, while &#8220;Sambo,&#8221; recorded in Berlin and Ghana, guest stars Ghanaian vocalist <strong>Stevo Atambire<\/strong>, accompanying the band with kologo.<\/p>\n<p>Afro-funk &#8220;Get Off Di Floor&#8221; adds a brass section and a guitarist, for a unique take on the classic afrobeat \u201cbig band\u201d arrangement, while final track &#8220;Ashek Ellil&#8221; lends itself to being the most experimental, featuring Moroccon artist <strong>Sa\u00efd Tichiti<\/strong> on vocals, oud and karkabat. Over a mix of tweaked synths, Yoruba-inspired percussion and the oriental sound of the oud, <strong>Tichiti<\/strong> lays a beautiful poem in Arabic.<\/p>\n<p>Dive into this awesome project below.
