Fresh paint, contrasting illustrations, and an art gallery located on the iconic Melrose block in Los Angeles was the place to be Thursday, December 20th where French artist Cros2 debuted his latest art exhibition titled “Vernissage” in collaboration with Portfolio 360 for the SEIZE 360 gallery. SEIZE 360 is a series of visual media exhibitions introducing contemporary paintings, sculptures, and photography from European and U.S. based artist. Cros2 is a talented artist and influential graphic illustrator who’s done collaborations with Nike, Magma magazine, and French recording artist Manolo whose style fuses contemporary art with street art. The “Vernissage” series is a collection of 10 original works where Cros2 explores the technique of screen printing to portray a twist on realism deeply inspired by Marseille lifestyle, music, graffiti and urban cultural landscapes.
When you first walked into the gallery immediately the artwork hanging against the wall burst off the canvas as Cros2 used sharp lines and contrasting color palettes to make each piece come alive. The unique colors used to capture each person in every work grabbed the attention of everyone in attendance as locals and art connoisseurs from the Los Angeles and Hollywood area came out to join in the experience. During the night, music played by Dj DARYL JONES & Keski (Tcheaz) had visitors amped up with a blend of classics played from Jay-lib, European groups Colonel Red & Dark House Family in addition to some classic old school jams such as Teddy Pendergrass.
Cros2 even had a special surprise for everyone midway through the night when he did a live painting of one of his pieces where he created an abstract mural illustration done on a canvas which he blended into the wall in various shades of grey, black, yellow, and red hues. Everyone enjoyed drinks sponsored by Hula Girl offered in 5 different flavors to choose the mood that best fits you whether you enjoy Moonlight Mai Tai or a Sunest Sensation along with One Coconut Water and Hubert’s Lemonade. A special thanks to Portfolio 360 Gallery owner David LaVelle and everyone who made the night a successful exhibit. The SEIZE 360 gallery will be running until January 13th so if you’re in the La area make sure you stop by an checkout “Vernissage” by Cros2 before it’s too late.
