POW WOW Hawaii is single handily evolving the game of collaborating art with community as we know it. February kicked off this years event finishing with the creation of over 30 murals throughout the streets of Kaka’ako, Hawaii. Local artists and founders Jasper Wong and Kamea Hadar have worked hard to gather together contemporary artists from around the world for a week of music, art and community with workshops, lectures, youth arts and an epic block party to finish the festivities. POW WOW is in its fourth year and growing fast becoming an international artist mecca. It provides the tools, space and inspiration while discussing the full process to the public with some of the worlds top artists, including LA’s own Jeff Soto, at a panel discussion at the University of Hawaii. Having some serious love for Hawaii, an intense passion for art in the streets and a huge respect for the intention behind this project, POW WOW Hawaii is definitely on our go to list for 2014. See more and check out their program at Kickstarter.
