Long Beach local Joey Fatts teams up with east coast hip-hop artists A$AP Rocky and Danny Brown. The combination of these three unique styles come together on a new single called, “Choppa” produced by 808 Mafia dropped April 26th. It isn’t common to find the featured artists as the first appearance on your own track but it surprisingly worked out in favor for this unique hip-hop collaboration. The up and coming artist Joey Fatts gave the new release a unique shape by having current artist A$AP Rocky open up strong on the first verse and eccentric Danny Brown lay down a catchy hook. The use of a trap style beat on this release is due to the modern ground work of production team 808 Mafia founded by Lex Luger and Southside. Now signed to Bricksquad Monopoly, the producers are becoming more known for utilizing and combining 808 drums, crisp snares, sped up hi-hats to create those hard hitting trap beats. Joey Fatts having produced with 808 Mafia in the past on other records such as “Cutthrroat” released in 2012, has developed a mellow paced flow which worked well laid over a 808 electronic hip-hop beat, a style similar to A$AP Rocky. “Cocky and Conceited, I got a bunch of reasons…” Rocky sets the tone and establishes the over all approach of the track. Danny Brown’s alternative hip-hop influence on the hook added the magnetic edge it needed and turned up the level on this record. There is no denying the combination of trio is explosive. Joey Fatts opens up a fresh door to the west coast sound by demonstrating a progressive approach to hip-hop with the new released single “Choppa”.
