Since the early 90’s, Patrick Rochon has been innovating and creating a unique style of light painting photography regarded as intense, visionary and highly creative. He specializes in portraits, fashion and nudes.Recently, Patrick released a series of stills he calls The Light Painting KATA, a visual study on the slow dancing martial artistry of Kata. With a slow shutter on his camera and an array of lights in his hands, he dances with the light before the shutter closes. For Patrick the idea behind light painting is to allow for the perfect moment to happen, where everything comes together, in synchronicity, creating this amazing moment of magic.

“My medium is LIGHT (moving lights) trough various media. I mainly use photography and video to capture the movement I create with lights. I started light-painting, combine with photography doing long exposure in the dark, in 1992. In 1999 I started creating videos and live performances with lights. Then with friends we created a multimedia group and we built costumes of lights. Using video feedback, we performed by ”light-painting” on a giant screen creating a new visual experience. My mission is to make light painting recognized as a form of art world wide by galleries, museums and the greater public.”-Patrick Rochon
