Australian musician Chet Faker recently wrapped up his first headline North American tour, selling out shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Portland, Montreal, Toronto and New York (with Flume). The dates sold out on the strength of current single Melt, a few earlier singles from his Thinking in textures EP , his hugely popular collaboration with fellow Australian Flume on the track Left Alone, and Chets appearance on the Swedish/Australian group Say Lou Lou’s track Fool Of Me–earning a Best New Track from Pitchfork.
Look for Faker to return to the US this fall for an 11-date stint with British beatmaker Bonobo, and a headline showcase at Outputs Panther Room in Brooklyn, NY on November 18 (tix available here). The showcase will feature Faker performing solo in a brand new electronic setup, as he pushes the BPM up a notch. He will also offer a taste of new tracks from his debut album, due in 2014.
Downtown Records released Fakers sultry single Melt featuring Kilo Kish on iTunes.
Chet Faker is the pseudonym Nicholas Murphy crafted a nod to Chet Baker’s singing style while incorporating influences from a youth spent producing house and disco. He is currently working on an EP with Flume and recording his debut album.
