A few weeks back Illsociety had the opportunity to be apart of the Strictly Social event and brought out Detroit’s Multi-Instrumentalist/Producer Zo! A member of Foreign Exchange Music Collective and the lovely Neo-Soul singer and songwriter from Dallas, Carmen Rodgers. The night started off with a delightful opening performance by Oakland songstress Neijah Lanae, performing songs from her ‘Trouble In Paradise’ EP.

As the night progressed, the Virgil was filled with beautiful people, music lovers, and local artists. You could find artist such as Dam Funk, and House Shoes in the building showing their support. It was a long time coming for Zo and Carmen to come out and bless us with their soulful presence and performance. Zo came out with his Detroit swagger saying “wadupdoe” to the crowed. As the crowd got hype ZO and Carmen got straight to business performing songs from Zo’s sophomore release album ‘ManMad’ and song’s off Carmen’s 2010 critical-acclaim album, ‘The Bitter Suite’.

The ambiance was filled with nothing but good vibes, then when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Zo! brought out a special guest, the beautiful Sy Smith. The level of energy was even more incredible as Zo!, Carmen, and Sy Smith were having fun on stage, jamming with one another. The night was amazing and inspiring.
