Artist: Junglepussy
Album: “Satisfaction Guaranteed”
Released: June 10, 2014

Junglepussy’s debut album Satisfaction Guaranteed sounds like the work of both a veteran rapper and an experienced woman. JP, born Shayna McHale, bounces around the Shy Guy-produced project spitting gems about healthy living, dating and eating.

Though Junglepussy’s raps are X-rated at times, she has sex on her own terms. “I’m not bougie I’m selective,” she proclaims on the step-by-step anthem “Picky Bitch Checklist.” Follow JP’s lead and watch your pussy stock increase overnight.

However, JP momentarily pushes the female role model persona aside for the Tink-assisted track “Curve ‘Em.” The two emcees energetically boast their influence over basic broads – Junglepussy speeds up her flow for the two-step friendly beat while Tink easily glides over it.

Satisfaction has it all. “Bling Bling,” produced by Shy Guy and Mell Masters, is a sure hit with a tongue-twisting, hook. The Brooklyn-native also switches to a Jamaican dialect for the island-flavored “Mi Nuh Care” and taps into her crazy-girl vulnerability for “Fuck Texting.”

The authentic sound behind Satisfaction Guaranteed comes from Junglepussy being an artist who actually comes from and appreciates the culture she represents. Instead of acknowledging only the marketable traits of blackness while discarding the rest, as is often practiced in the music industry, Junglepussy embraces it all. That includes regularly oiling her elbows, grubbing on oxtails and combing out her blonde afro while watching Moesha reruns.

The result is a dynamic addition to the hip hop archives. Junglepussy’s Satisfaction Guaranteed sits comfortably next to the work of the same predecessors she cites as inspiration – Foxy Brown, Brandy, Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliott, Patra and Erykah Badu.
