New Works by Hush

UK artist Hush recently opened a solo exhibition of new works at 941 Geary in San Francisco that has definitely caught our attention with his unique style and ‘pure expressionism’. His work is a serene balance between Eastern art and Western style combining the traditional geisha girl with the dauntless statement of tagging.  His use of intrepid floral and geometric patterns take shape on kimonos and head dresses displaying the rough and layered texture of street art.

Hush’s background as graffiti artist, graphic designer and toy maker in Japan has harmonized with fluidity and this amazing collection is a beautiful fusion with a complexity that draws you in and keeps you fixated. He refers to his in-depth technique as ‘action painting’, and incorporates collage, screen-printing, painting and spray-painting seamlessly to create a mesmerizing body of work.

Hush has been featured in numerous publications including Street Art and Juxtapoz Magazine. Last year he collaborated with Burton Snowboards and came up with the Burton Lipstick Board 2012. He currently lives in the UK and last year launched the installation program and exhibition space, onethirty3, in Newcastle, UK. Check out more of the beauty at studio-hush.com.
