Neijah Lanae preps for a pop takeover with her new project, Sapphire EP.
The EP is “a collection of five songs exploring the vulnerability of love and lust through a very outspoken, and often misunderstood, female perspective.” Lanae addresses the feelings involved when two lovers first meet, the first night they spend together – and everything else in between.
Neijah Lanae, a Los Angeles resident via Oakland, crooned about love on her last project Trouble in Paradise, but her new music takes an up-tempo turn from the eerie concepts she explored in the past. She speaks her mind over dynamic sounds supplied by Executive Producers The Formula (J-Hyphen and Chi-Kotiq).
Sapphire starts off sweet. “Alone with You” – produced by Huss – is a confession of complete infatuation that cartwheels into “Kiss,” a catchy, 80s-influenced tune that magnifies the moments leading up to a first kiss.
Then Lanae gets aggressive. “Tell Me,” “Touch” and “All Night” take things to the next level – with heavier beats and steamier lyrics.
Just like the character it’s named after, there are many sides to Sapphire EP. It will inspire, trigger memories, fuel dance parties and – of course – assist in love making
