Street artist Vermibus takes to the streets all around Europe to recreate advertisements post throughout the different city’s downtown areas streets and subways. Vermibus takes fashion and perfume posters from their advertisement spaces and replaces them with recreated images that he has altered at his studio to depict smeared and watered down ads. The project has been dubbed “Dissolving Europe” and brings to the surface the issues of dehumanization in modern advertising. According to Vermibus each site was ‘carefully deliberated with its environment, from Rolex boutiques, to archaic museums.’ By removing the flesh of his subjects, Vermibus dehumanizes those figures that were already depersonalized by the advertising industry, in a search for that personality that was lost. For more checkout the video above as he takes over Europe.
