Critics Clothing are a contemporary fashion brand from the UK, founded by Samanah Duran. Although born in the UK, Samanah’s roots are African American and her experience of travelling worldwide is what inspired her to create her own label. Whilst on the west coast, something caught her eye in a small traditional souvenir shop – a Quetzal feathered crown once worn by Mayan kings and reserved only for the most powerful and influential among the tribe. Samanah began to incorporate Mayan art into her designs which was set to become her logo trademark symbolizing both strength and power. Critics clothing expresses the message ‘power of the spirit’ and working with a dedicated team of designers, the label is able to reach out to an audience that wouldn’t usually look at these kind of collections. Channeling a strong street wear vision mixed with cultural influences, the brand are now focusing on their AW14 collection which sees Critics Clothing expand their design and sportswear influences. Stay up to date with the brand by visiting the Critics website.
