The Circle Of Bosses studio is tucked away on the other side of Los Angeles from Crooked I’s native roots in Long Beach, but none the less, the spot is fresh with wood grain floors, an epic mixing board and all the plush amenities you would expect for the home of Slaughterhouse’s west koast kingpin. And on January 21st, the COB HQ hosted the listening party for Raven Sorvino’s “Lifestyle EP.”

The function was an intimate affair, sponsored by the good people at Cabo Horchata. They spike the traditional Mexican beverage with a lot more than rice milk and cinnamon. The house speakers played classic joints from Big L and Notorious B.I.G. as the guests continued to arrive.

Raven was dressed in all black looking like she just jumped off a Kawasaki Ninja. You can see the influence Aaliyah had on her with one glance at the Leimert Park representative, but the frozen gold grill she rocks lets you know she’s trill on a whole other level.

Raven thanked her squad for all the support they gave her while creating this project. First she introduced Iceman, who engineered the Lifestyle EP, and then she bigged up Aktive, a young gun out of Long Beach who produced the entire project.

Raven broke down the story of how she and Aktive met and how this EP grew out of recording a single song that vibed so hard she had to fxck around and collaborate on a full length 7 track release.

And without further introduction Raven pressed play on the Pro Tools and lit the album off like a sawed off shotgun with the first record, “Tasmanian”, featuring Johnny Frank outta Cashville.

The first bar on the EP has Raven spitting about being dressed in all black, and mos def that call was true to life. But that’s not the fxcking point, the point of the track is that this former pimp will go “Tasmanian on your ass giving no fucks.”

Track 2 is entitled “Makaveli.” And as any true student of the 7 day theory would know, this track pays homage to 2pac. On this song you find Raven holding 2 glocks busting 2 shots. It’s gonna make you think she’s got Thug Life tatted on her belly

The Houston born self proclaimed bucket hat bae is on her N.W.A. west coast aggressive shit, really tho… She’s not trying to be cute. She’ll fxck your ass up. And look good doing it too.

She’s definitely on her bape shxt, track 3 proves it. With a name like “Planet If The Bapes” you know she’s gonna get interstellar in the concrete jungle. Basically it’s monkey shxt, gorilla shxt… to get you going ape shxt. The sample of a howling monkey in this beat is reminiscent to Sean Price’s “Monkey Barz.” But expect this to be trapped out on an authentic fashion killa wave. For real tho, she’s rocking bape shit in her timbs. She’s going to Tokyo swiping cards with no pins.

Track 5 is called “Alpaca Fur.” The title alone reminds me of Dom Kennedy’s “Gold Alpinas.” The hook features a screwed down vocal as Raven finds herself at home telling you she’s fresher than the next bitch.

Track 6 is called “Unbothered.” It’s an anthem of the anti thirst, stating that, “I can’t be bothered, no, no… not me.” It’s a song to help you drive all the negative energy away so you can be unbothered by bullshit and stay on point when it comes to handling your own. It’s also going to be the first visual from the EP and the video is being shot while I put this recap down digitally.

Miss Sorvino saved the best for last tho. The 7th and final song on the project is the most lit. She calls it “Shortiez” and it’s a dedication to all the fly ass females out there in the world. You know the type of girl she’s talking about, the type of shorty you’d ride for, testify for and shxt… Even pull the trigger for. You know all of Raven’s shorties stay on fleek. She ain’t got no ugly thots with her in the entourage. Heads are gonna love this track, Aktive out did himself with this one. Featuring a sample of Naughty By Nature’s classic record, “Uptown Anthem”, this record is sure to get you toasting your drinks in the air and soaking your cigars in cognac.

And just like that the EP ended with a bang. It definitely had it’s moments, especially with a tag line of Young Thug’s only intelligible lyric. Lol… But really tho. The lifestyle gotta be fly. And Raven proved hers was just that as she hung around the lab to show love to her guests as the fam slowly left the studio and made their way out into the wilderness of the Los Angeles night.

The Lifestyle EP is sure to open more doors for the queen of hearts. Make sure you go download your copy from Live Mixtapes on January 28th. And if you are in the greater Los Angeles area, come to the Originators store (7600 Melrose Ave) from 8-11pm on Friday January 30th and check out the official release party of Raven Sorvino’s latest project, brought to you by Young California and The Synergy Group. Plus there’s gonna be free drinks so you know it’s a lituation. You heard it here first. You know ya man’s Drop Jewelz.
