On May 16, 2015 ILLSOCIETY and J3 Collection had the pleasure of hosting a private installation for Los Angeles based visual artist, Anaka Morris first installation project called, “FAME.” An ethnographic research photo & film series that explored the concept of individual nature of “success” while comparing an artists’ persona to their “true” identity. The installation was held at a loft style studio located in downtown LA’s Art District. The exhibit featured a projected short film by Anaka Morris with words that read “Are you famous?'” above it along with mural-sized print photographs throughout the studio. Guest were able to view (40×40) prints of Kali Uchis, Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def, a few (30×30) of Kehlani, Jesse Boykins III, and (20×20) of SZA, Jhene Aiko, Uhlife, Pink Siifu, Courtnie Henson, Mick Jenkins plus many other artists. The vibes were hella chill and their was some cool eclectic people. Catch the photos below of the event and some of Anaka Morris’s photography.
