Documentary: Bayou Maharajah

So I have just heard an interview with documentarian Lily Keber about a pianist that I have never heard of before, and I know for a fact a lot of you readers haven’t either. That is why we’re here to shine some light on old/new stuff that will open the mind up. Lily has done just that, with her upcoming documentary film “Bayou Maharajah” which is about pianist James Booker. This guy was insanely good on the piano, has worked with Aretha Franklin and The Doobie Brothers, and taught the greats like Dr. John and Harry Connick Jr. Hearing Booker play the piano sounds like there are two on the keys. It was nice to hear such amazing attention to classical as adding his original New Orleans calypso feel to the ivory keys of any piano he touched. Keep an eye out on the release of the film and go find something out there by James Booker.
