Psychedelic & Afro-futurist rap artist, uhlife, is merging the street with the spirit realm and giving a middle finger to babylon with his new booming single “no ebola,” produced by Soulection beatsmith, NiceGuyxVinny.
“no ebola” summons the vibe of a dark and haunting dub loop (dub, not dub-step), and features a deep and resonating bassline bundled with thumping kicks and echoing snares. As the hook comes into play, a ghostly synth also joins the dance. All kudos go to NiceGuyxVinny for the rich atmosphere. Floating in the midst of this spacious and minimal medley is uhlife, seamlessly weaving the thoughts and tales of a lost hustler with praises to yoruba deities (known as “orishas”) and hexes for shallow rappers. Mix the dub music of King Tubby, the grit of Heltah Skeltah, and the spirit of AfroPunk in a blender and you’ll get this song.
