Yassin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def dropped “Basquiat, Ghostwriter” last Friday. With his recent statement ” I will battle anyone” and calling out Lupe Fiasco, the song was tagged Lupe Fiasco on soundcloud. But it was no diss song, it sounded like Yassin was using alchemy to bring back Basquiat from the dead, with his monotone flow over a haunting punk rifts. A lot of the lyrics were taken straight from Jean-Michel’s paintings. The level of creativity was very refreshing.
