On November 14, 2016, Red Bull Sound Select continued its “30 Days in LA” concert series with night 14 at the Echoplex. Headlining this night was Top Dawg Entertainment’s Isaiah Rashad. But first up was an amazing performance from Sampa the Great. Hailing from Australia, this artist didn’t disappoint the crowd with her strong vocals, throwback feel of her tracks and her politically charged lyrics. Sampa the Great performed records from her 12-track debut mixtape entitled “The Great Mixtape”. This is an artist we are sure to hear more from.
Next up was another Australian act. Mansionair is an electronic band consisting of three multi-instrumentalists, Jack Froggatt, Lachlan Bostock and Alex Nicholls. Their set consisted of several records which showcased their unique electronic sound. For one song they brought out a full choir. Definitely a first for us!
After the two acts, the sold-out crowd was ready for the headliner, Isiah Rashad. Hitting the stage at full speed, Isiah Rashad performed records from his latest album “The Sun’s Tirade”. He even brought two special guests on stage, Hugh Augustine and SZA. Overall it was an incredible night with a lot of talent on stage.
