Following on from last month’s groundbreaking session in London (premiered on Okayplayer), Saul Williams and Boiler Room presented an evening dedicated to lyricism and spoken word — this time in Miami, Florida during Art Basel. Making his long-awaited return to US soil, the evening was made even more special with a surprise guest set from the legendary Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def, performing new unheard music.
With the help of wordsmith Aja Monet and the thriving, youthful community cultivated via her Smoke Signals studio in Little Haiti, the global broadcaster curated a diverse line-up of artists that range from poets to rappers and vocalists to spoken word specialists.
Joined by a host of local talents plus appearances from Kanye West collaborator, Allan Kingdom, trap lord Wifisfuneral, Melo-X and much more.
