On April 12th, Vince Staples gave an electrifying performance at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood California for his Life Aquatic Tour. Starting off the show was Kilo Kish, an alternative R&B singer and songwriter who previously collaborated with Staples on “Loco” off his latest album Prima Donna. Kish provided a hyperkinetic, theatre like performance along with two back up dancers and a dj who also provided keys and guitar work. The crowd was definitely feeling her set which included records from her latest album Reflections in Real Time as well as her previous EPs. It was definitely a unique performance by Kish.
By the time Staples took the stage, it had been cleared to allow him to perform his one-man show with three large LCD screens behind him. As he performed records from his current and previous albums goldfish, skulls, lasers and other visuals backed the singer up and almost created an interactive experience for the performer. Performances included “Jump Off”, “Fire” and “Lemme Know”.
