Long Beach California holds one of the best-kept secrets when it comes to up and coming, and established talent in the hip-hop and R&B scene. Located in a dive bar called Que Sera, Fight Club goes down every first Friday of the month. It consistently serves up a delicious blend of dj’s live acts, and emcees to a sold out crowd. Celebrating its four-year anniversary in April, the July show saw a return of some original acts including a set by NiceGuyxVinny of SOULECTION and lojii (formally uhlife) performing his current project Due Rent.
Due Rent is the brainchild of lojii and super producer Swarvy. After a performance of their newest album, NiceGuyxVinny and lojii took the crowd back with a rendition of “No Ebola”, a record they have not performed in over a year. “No Ebola” was not the only reunion track, as NiceGuyxVinny aslo ran a performance of “Dance“ with Long Beach legend Melziah Dia. Prior to these historic performances, Terrance Marquis, Fight Club’s resident DJ, opened the night with a dope set to warm the crowd up. Closing out the night was Nonchalant Savant backed by house band Via Leaves. Via Leaves, Fight Club’s house band also held a jam session earlier, which is always a crowd favorite. If you want to check out Fight Club next month, Que Sera is located at 1923 E 7th St, Long Beach, CA 90813. Come early for parking and guaranteed entrance.
