Sega Bodega follows up landmark Crazylegs releases ‘Ess B’ and ‘Nivea’ with an ambitious new project, ‘SS (2017)’: a 9-track self-released mixtape of original compositions inspired by classic cinema. ‘SS (2017)’ is the second part in a series – the first SS tape was written in 2015 and saw Sega reimagine the likes of Akira, Eraserhead and A Clockwork Orange. The SS concept comprises not only full-length tracks, but actual re-scored versions of the original movie trailers, outlining his desire to create original soundtracks in the future.
‘SS (2017)’ forms a natural extension of Sega Bodega’s growing catalogue – showcasing rich, abstract sound design and emboldened, futuristic ideas, no doubt tempered by his work alongside Shygirl and Coucou Chloe on their breakout club label, NUXXE. It delivers as his most striking, absorbing work yet.
