If you’re the type of person who can vibe with free food and an eclectic mix of international artists, we really hope you managed to check out Tropicalia. If not, you can definitely count on seeing the festival again next year. More than likely on a new level judging by the turn out of their first official event.
Hosted by East LA comedian Felipe Esparza, Tropicalia welcomed over a dozen vendors and from the time the doors opened till 4pm you could enjoy free taco samples with more choices than your stomach could handle. Performances ranging from artists such as Chicano Batman, Kali Uchis, Alina Baraz, King Krule, and so many more. It’s undoubtedly worth mentioning Tropicalia was Yellow Days’ debut show in America. A crazy feeling for an overseas artist to be welcomed for the first time ever with so many already loyal fans.
With a total of five stages fans were chasing sounds all day making sure they could catch all of their favorite artists. In between each set there were various performances to keep the crowd entertained, a breath of fresh air from the fading in and out of pre set songs to help keep the crowds involved.
Overall a smooth day filled with an extremely diverse group of artists, great food, and an energetic crowd. Mix that with a cool sunny day and you’re guaranteed to have a hit. A big thanks goes out to The Observatory for once again putting on a solid festival and to all of the vendors. Check out the photo recap below.
