Signing to Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder Label earlier this year for his recent acclaimed Aphelion EP, rising British house DJ/producer Ross From Friends (real name Felix Clary Weatherall) returns with his incredible debut album Family Portrait slated to drop July 27th via Brainfeeder Records. Family Portrait is characterized by Ross From Friends’ perpetual desire to experiment and obsessive attention to detail, marrying an intricately layered production style with warm, heavily saturated sonics that elevate, rather than stifle, his melodious funk, showcasing his ability to shift and evolve, moving from the world of lo-fi to the world of FlyLo. The album’s title Family Portrait nods specifically to the influence of his mum and dad, who actually met on a DIY European rave caravan journey thrown by his father in 1990.
