North West Londoner Roses Gabor has sung for some of the greats in her journey to this point. She has lent her vocal to multiple tracks from the original digital soundboy and London raga-jungle legend Shy FX. It was her voice that blessed pioneering club/pop stylist SBTRKT’s biggest track “Pharaohs”.
But now its 2018 and Roses is audaciously launching her solo vision, starting with this arresting single “illusion” produced by friend and fellow Londoner Sampha Sisay. On “Illusions” we find her laying in the couple’s bed as a pairing disintegrates. Sampha assists with his distinctive BVs and signature meditative production. It’s a taste of what’s to come in a year when Roses will be taken to heart across the globe.
