London Livin’ is the new EP by producer and DJ Snips – released today on his newly launched label Barbershop Records. Throughout the four-track EP, Snips draws on influences stretching across house, nu soul, hip hop, jazz and disco, with some of London’s most talented artists to piece together a coherent journey.
Lead single ‘The Product’ is a jazz funk inspired downtempo house track, featuring spoken word artist William Stowe who paints a picture of existing in modern day Hackney, East London. Soul artist Emmavie is featured on ‘Broke My Heart’, a nod to R&B’s golden era, while Snips shows his ability to flip and filter samples into new soundscapes on the instrumental track ‘My Queen’, which has the markings of a future club classic. The EP closes on ‘Pennies For My Thoughts’ featuring North London MC Awate, lending his vocals to a timeless hip hop production, rooted in classic boom bap sensibilities and topped off with an obligatory scratch hook.
