January 12th, 2019 – Long Beach, Califas.
Ice House Art Collective- Take the freight elevator to the 5th floor and walk into ‘HELLO WELCOME’- A new-wave group mural show offering refreshing takes on urban contemporary art in the Long Beach and Los Angeles art scene. The artists included in the show offered perspectives on border disputes (Joon the Goon), traditional signage and LB history (Nat Iosbaker), to the future-tech-shamans of the working class (Kimo Bautista). The muralists met over the past year at Ink and Drink in Long Beach, a monthly drawing session amongst illustrators, designers, muralists and graffiti artists hosted by Inspired LBC and eschewed in by Joon the Goon (a 2018 Pow!Wow! Long Beach participant). Hello Welcome kicked off the year with a 1,200+ visitor art show including multiple live bands and music performances, a 25+ artist group show and a bar sponsored by Show Grow. This event is what we want our art scene in Long Beach to represent- variety, intimacy, hunger, and recognition.
Shouts out all the participants: Ron the Killer, Joon the Goon, EDROK ONE, Kimo Bautista, Jaime Paints, Inspired LBC, Joey Stupor, Edwin Papa, Roshi, Daniel Toledo, Bodeck Hernandez, Allison Bamcat, Goop Massta, and Jason Keam.
If you missed the opening, don’t worry we got you covered. Check out our photo recap below!
