Deb Never is pleased to share her latest single and video for “Ugly.” The video, which is being hosted by 88rising and features Matt Champion of BROCKHAMPTON, fully captures the nostalgic early 2000’s MTV rock music video vibe of Blink-182 and Bloodhound Gang. While the song expresses vulnerability and unrequited love, the video is mischievous and silly—showcasing Deb’s lighthearted sense of humor and spirit. “Ugly” is a raw and minimal ballad interlaced with distorted guitars and R&B sensibilities.
“Ugly is about a toxic, co-dependent relationship where there’s no more love but there’s still a need for comfort. I feel like everyone has been in this type of relationship because it’s easy to fall into. Then suddenly being unhappy but comfortable becomes normal. I suppose you could call it an ugly relationship.” – Deb Never
