Rock The Bells Press Conference & Launch Party At House of Blues Sunset.

The line stretched around the block. Press was scrambling for their passess to get inside the venue early. Debarge was outside with the valet. Posters for the Psycho Realm’s ”Terror Tapes 2” were all over. Even DJ Quik was posted outside politicking for a cool second. It was the #RockTheBells2012 line up announcement party.

After some delegation, I made it inside. There was a panel of infamous hip hop legends on the stage which included the RZA, Dan the Automater, Murs and Dom Kennedy amongst others. MC Supernatural was on the mic freestyling the line up for the 2012 show while DJ Quik kicked a beat box.

The line up was massive and included everyone from 2 Chainz and A$VP Rocky to Missy Elliot & Timbaland, Redman & Method Man, Big Daddy Kane, Deltron 3030, Kendrick Lamar and more. The surprise reunion for 2012 will be Bone Thugz N Harmony performing the entirety of Eternal E. 1999 in its whole.

The other big announcement of the night was that Rock The Bells is taking a step forward in Coachella fashion and making the festival a 2 day event. The line up is massive and Chang of Guerilla Union stated that they do this year after year for the fans and the love of hip hop.

After the press conference, the curtain dropped and we were treated to the trailer of Ice T’s new documentary, ”The Art of Rap.” General admission was then let in and the party began. There were several DJ’s, including.DJ Rocky Rock and DJ Lance of Yo Gabba Gabba fame.

Fashawn and Murs took to the stage and got down with the get down. MC Supernatural freestyled the line up one more time for everyone who missed out earlier at the press conference. DJ Quik performed a set of his classic hits and Bone Thugz N Harmony ended the night in high form going through their catalogue of ear candy while still managing to save the best of their work for the upcoming shows in August.

It was a thrilling night full of inspiration as a new generation of hip hop grew closer with the legends of the golden era. The crowd included everything from respected journalists to your average b-girls and hip hop heads. Jay Rock of TDE and Black Hippy fame was cold posted enjoying the night, as was bay area legend, Spice 1.

It was definitely a night to remember. Guerilla Union has done it again and put together an incredible line up for this year’s Rock The Bells. Mos Def everyone left the building believing the hype and eagerly anticipating the festival to come at the end of the summer in San Bernadino.
