London based street artist Eelus is showing his new solo exhibition here in the states called ‘Curious’. It opens this summer starting in Colorado at the Black Book Gallery. The exhibition has enthusiast curious about the collection showcasing an entirely new style for Eelus with the use of all paper cut-outs. His work has always intrigued art connoisseur having one foot here and one in the other world that he says, ‘is crawling with hidden magic and strange creatures’. From the previews ‘Curious’ definitely has a new flavor but still carries that same allured/cryptic style that people are drawn to that leaves them excited to see more.

We first saw Eelus when his ‘Raven Haired’ Gambia Edition caught our attention for the Wide Open Walls project in Gambia 2010, an annual arts project thought up by Lawrence Williams. Eelus along with other leading street artists, including ROA, Broken Crow, Will Barras, Lucy McLaughlin and Ben Eine, spent a few weeks in Gambia in a collaboration to help paint one of the local villages in the hope of bringing more money into to the area with increased tourism. This was his first curating project and it was highly successful producing works like the magnetic “Raven Haired’ and gaining world wide exposure including press with Juxapoz Magazine.

Besides his murals, Eelus also does amazing stencils and works on various projects like posters for events and Sci Fi films, themes for Playstation and admirable exhibitions along side some of the worlds best contemporary artists. As part of his ‘Curious’ exhibition he will be releasing three very limited edition prints, which knowing from experience will probably go fast!
