This edition of Bananas was as eclectic as ever. Although the event got off to a bit of a late start, general crowd excitement did not diminish minutely. Kosher Dills, Kid Static, Poetik Force, JayK Gallagher, Always Prolific, Muzic King, and Indie Rock Trio The Vim Dicta made a trip no matter where you journeyed from well worth it.. The Vim Dicta kicked off the night with a brutally nurturing mix of avant grade rock reminiscent of Blonde Redhead and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Their stage presence is an emphatic triumphant yet subtle mix of…crooning, haunting echo like harmonies belted with laser like precision and soul shaking force. Second up was Kosha Dillz (born Rami Matan Even-Esh) who brought the energy in the building to a fever pitch type level utilizing witty, fun filled rhymes peppered with crowd dialogue and participation. My personal favorite performer of the night hands down was none other than the most lyrical yet strangely humble Poetik Force.

Poetik Force was and is an artist that encapsulates the essence of underground hip hop with a stage presence that entrusts a sense of upbeat vulnerability with lyrics about relationships with his father mixed with this classically triumphant sound that firmly astounds as it beats the shit out of you. Bananas is every 3rd Tuesday of the month at the legendary Kaos Network in leimert Park.
