Album: The Dreamer/The Believer
Artist: Common
Released: Dec 16, 2011

His lyrical-ness has finally blessed us with another album after years of success on the big and small screen. His last album that came out in 2008, Universal Mind Control, was good but The Neptunes productions overpowered his lyrics a bit. With Common’s new album The Dreamer/The Believer he decided to go back to collaborating with his old friend and musical producer No I.D. adding under classic under his resume. This album Common takes us back to the essence of true hip-hop with ill beats and fresh rhymes. The album has a decent balance of intensity with “Ghetto Dreams” featuring Nas, rawness with “Sweet”, and witty soulful poetry fused with hard-hitting jazz rhythms on “The Dreamer” which features Maya Angelou reading an original poem. All in all, another classic album.
