Mixtape: Echoes of Silence

This is The Weeknd’s third installment of his trilogy mixtape series. The First being House of Balloons, released in early 2011. His latest record Echoes of Silence however, isn’t as good as his first but better than Thursday, which was released this past August. This album flows from beginning to end whereas in Thursday, the tracks were all over the place- with the exception of “Gone” and “The Zone” which featured Drake. Naturally the highlight track on this album however is “D.D”, which is a cover of Michael Jackson’s Dirty Diana. I won’t say that it’s a bad cover; it just is not the right song for his type of moody, avant-garde R&B- which is incredibly dope.
