Continuing our pre fall trend report, New York based label SUNO joins the ranks of the Master Mix with their FW 2012 collection. At first glance, global funk and futuristic chic first comes to mind. The blend of shoulder structure and flow mixed with floral print and stripes manifests a specific style that is unique and true to their vision of traditional, local techniques and high end tailoring, as well an emphasis on fit and fabric. Founders Max Osterweis, and New York dweller, Erin Beatty produced their first collection in Kenya, Osterweis’ long time 2nd home, while using vintage Kenyan textiles that Osterweis had been collecting for years. The outcome was beautifully crafted, timeless pieces with global flavor, greatly received in the fashion world. Since it’s inception in 2008, SUNO has evolved it’s business to include production also in India and Peru. Besides offering a global, unique view of the luxury world in an accessible way, SUNO is a global conscience brand. Their current, and super cute, sneaker collection is made in Kenya, using recycled rubber and fabrics. Also a huge 15% of your purchase is donated to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a Kenyan preservation devoted to the protection of endangered elephants and rhinos, we love that!
