Artist: Kone

For everyone that is from the Los Angeles area we hear, see, and expect a lot from music/musicians. One producer that has been on the scene for a while and far from ever disappointing goes by an alter ego Kone and has followed up his debut album The Tractatus with a gritty, lo-fi EP entitled Legend Days, which is released on Alpha Pup. This release is on point with what every beat head from L.A. wants. He experiments with drums, strings, and samples. The sounds that leak through the speakers while playing this will take you back to a simpler time. With the many tracks that impress “In The Wind” and “White Smoke” (feat. J1 aka The Deer) significantly stood out. It had this heavy dirty sound that was created with a raw bassline and grainy drums. You can hear the influences of nu’jazz, minimal, and vintage sounds. If you want to hear what a decade plus in the L.A. music scene sounds like pick up this EP here and drift into the sultry sounds of Kone.
