On Friday June 29th history was made at the HVW8 Gallery with the debut of “New Exchange” featuring Brainfeeder’s own Mtendere Mandowa “Teebs” alongside with the globe trotting Charles Munka. An eclectic (as you can imagine) crowd of people flooded the gallery and socialized amongst a soundtrack peppered with New, Old School and Underground Hip-Hop jams.

In a recent interview Teebs states that he doesn’t like his creations to be too complex for the reason that he doesn’t want people to get lost in the art. For those unfamiliar with his new collection, upon viewing the pieces promptly do the exact opposite of that. They draw the viewer in with unparalleled voraciousness and holds you in place like a tractor beam. Munka’s pieces, a mix of brute graffiti and intellectual collage accompanied with a symbols and foreign language text simultaneously entertain the senses. The air of gallery infused excitement generated from the artwork matched by a mix by none other than Gaslamp Killer created a most memorable event.

“New Exchange” will be showing until August 1st at the HVW8 Gallery located at 661 North Spaulding Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90036.
