The Mad Decent Block Party series in all of its glory returned to Los Angeles this weekend bringing with it a perfect storm of chaos, music and style. If you aren’t yet familiar with Mad Decent, know that it is a whole different animal when it comes to record labels. Founded by super producer Thomas Wesley Pentz (Diplo), Mad Decent is an entity that has made a significant mark in the music industry for making third world beats a hot commodity in electronic music.

This year’s line-up consisted of up & coming new favorites along with old friends like Diplo & Theophilus London who have already cemented themselves into our preverbal playlists. Performances ranged from Dj’s like Mexican imports 3 Ball MTY who diligently blasted the crowd with a diverse array of electronica mixed with Cumbia, seasoned with Afro Beat and entwined with other world sounds to rapper Casey Veggies who had the crowd tripping on its own “turntness.”

Highlights of the events included headliner Theophilus London crowd surfing…multiple times, Diplo’s always body moving Dj set and Brazillian trio Bonde Do Role’s penis capped water gun that sprayed milk over festival goers antics but the true spotlight deserved to be on the audience who was one of the best dressed I have yet to see from an Electronic music festival.

In between hanging out at the festival and enjoying the acts I roamed the crowd to seek out and meet people whose sense of style grabbed my attention. In the following article Street Steez: Mad Decent Block Part (Los Angeles) are a collection of images of festival goes who did more than noticeably stand out from the pack, they stood above it.
