Album: ShadowBoxing
Artist: Zion I
Released: October 2nd, 2012

Zion I (Zumbi & Amp Live) bring forth a solid project with their latest release ShadowBoxing.

The emcee and producer hip hop duo enlist a set of talented producers and artists in their latest project including Traxamillion, Dexbeats, & Minnesota, BassNectar, Goapele, The Grouch, Eligh, Collie Buddz , and D.U.S.T.

ShadowBoxing brings that familiar experimental sound that we’ve come to expect from Zion I. The lead single “We Don’t”, featuring fellow comrades The Grouch and Eligh, makes for a standout feature under a perfectly synthesized beat. Collie Buddz adds a hint of melodic-reggae to “Sex Wax”. But it is the Goapele assisted collaboration “Life’s Work” that is the most tantalizing, as the songstress lays down seductive vocals accompanied by Zumbi’s passion filled lyrics. Even without assistance the bay area duo manage to keep the listener close to the speakers with cuts like “Buck Em” and “Human Being”.

ShadowBoxing is filled with progressive, heavy-based instrumentation that sits perfectly well within hip hop boundaries. From beginning to end, this 13 cut project doesn’t fall short to the musical reputation this hip hop duo has built and brought over the years. Make sure you cop ShadowBoxing and vibe out to it!
