Nikon had it’s 36th annual Small World microscope photo competition and out of 2000 entries the chosen top 20 images are said to be some of the best ever. This years winner is an image of blood vessels in the brain of a live zebra fish embryo, how crazy is that? Highlighted specimen parts are magnified and fluorescent technologies are used. They show us things like garlic, eye organs and black mastiff bat embryos a little closer, a little brighter and with a whole new perspective, this years winner we are actually seeing something for the first time ever. All the imagery is stunning and the competition is amazing, it joins the powerful forces of art, science and technology to remind us once again how everything is truly beautiful.
