Single: Lighters Up feat. Mavado & Popcaan
Artist: Snoop Lion
Released: December 10, 2012

Being a huge fan of reggae and dancehall and wanting this genre to get more popularity on our radio waves, you can’t believe how excited I am for Snoop Lion’s reggae inspired album Reincarnated. As snoop has stated this album is about paying homage and giving love to those who created reggae music. So as for his second single Snoop drops “Lighters Up”. A track that speaks for itself but in a positive way- about being united, forgetting our differences and struggles, kicking back, and lighting up…

“Put ya lighters up/ get high with me, fly with me/ aint no dividing us/ East side, West side, North side, South side, unified/ come on and ride with us…”

Dre Skull and Major Lazer produced this track and enlisted Jahdan Blakkamoore for background vocals. Also featured on this track are Dancehall heavy hitters Mavado and Popcaan who each spit a verse and gives this track real validity.

“Unity is di strength for we may get betta/ help get betta, up di latter/ love in every country ah/ Snoop Lion and Popcaan got di vision/ so we all can live in the one only vision/ go spread di news pon di television/ put up ya lighters wave ya hands so…”

“Lighters Up” makes you want to just fuck all the bullshit in your life and light a spiff – but that is what real reggae music does to you anyway right? I believe Snoop Lion has a winner with this one. Don’t believe me? Listen for yourself.
