Single: Murder feat. Kendrick Lamar & Scarface
Artist: The Game
Released: December 9, 2012
For The Game’s weekly Sunday Service, he put out this track that would have originally gone on his Jesus Piece album, but had gotten cut due to sampling issues. Game kind of takes you on a walk through this dream sequence about all the great artists of our time who have passed along and how their controversial deaths were most likely murder. He brings up everyone from John Lennon to Treyvon Martin…
“Diddy seen Big, and Suge watch Pac/ they both was riding passenger when they got shot, its murder nigga/ who the fuck killed Michael Jackson, his physician?/ he died slow in his music, you ain’t really listen/ now his daughter is getting slapped by his sister/ that’s probably gonna kill they momma/ so I’m sorry Ms. Jackson…”
This track reminds me of something that Jay-Z would have put on The Blueprint album and that’s not just because of the soft mellow beat. Game also enlists Kendrick Lamar for the hook, while Scarface finishes the song out with a couple bars and similarly tells a story of how our society today is obsessed with killing and how it’s only going to get worse. Real ILL ass track. Listen below.
